Strictly Performance's worlds fastest 2011 5.0L V8 Mustang GT, Powered by Brisk Racing Spark Plugs!
Strictly Performance now has the official title of first 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 in the 9-second quarter-mile range. They accomplished this feat during a test and tune event at Houston Raceway Park where their newly aquired, fresh off the lot with paper tags white 2011 Mustang GT ran a 9.96 @ 137 MPH.
Strictly Performance swapped out the stock six-speed transmission for a C4 and than added a direct port nitrous system along with a custom prototype tune, and a set of colder, non-projected tip BRISK RACING SPARK PLUGS: RR14S. A set of upper and lower control arms along with Bogart racing wheels kept this Mustang GT screaming down the drag strip. On the dyno the 5.0-liter V-8 engine threw down an insane 656 rear-wheel horsepower which comes courtesy of the nitrous.

BRISK Racing Spark Plugs power the World's fastest FR500 Cobra Jet Mustang at Mojave Mile speed challenge
The Mojave Mile is a standing 1 mile Run that takes place at the Mojave Airport on one of the two mile long runways. Race day was a very cool, windy day with some light rains causing minimal delays. Cross winds and cold track made handling an issue for all. The Rains Cobra Jet immediately established itself as one of the fastest cars and the only car that ran over 180 mph with no spoiler or splitter. Very impressive first outing and the team was told it was the world's fastest FR500 Cobra Jet Mustang with John's 182.9 mph clocking. The team used a new APR Performance Hood from their good friends at Scott Drake Muscle Cars. They added a set of new Brisk spark plugs with the trick Sniper coils and some Re d Line Lubricants. The team tested the CJ at Willow Springs before the event thanks to the bulletproof Currie 9" road race rear end and the Eibach Performance Coil Springs. After all, Ford created this car for drag racing only and is based off of a v-6 chassis and brakes with a Ford GT Supercharged 5.4 engine. Kaufmann Racing called on Bruce Griggs for some components & advise. After the event the team agreed they can make it a lot faster, but it was a great first effort all put together in less than two weeks.

Congratulations to Donnie Bowles - Brisk 3V Spark Plugs Powered 05' Roush Mustang - Father's day WIN!!

JPC Racing Runs 8s with '05 Mustang powered by BRISK Spark plugs!

Justin Burcham drives the first S197 Mustang to run in the 8s with a Three-Valve mod motor.
The barrier has been broken, as Justin Burcham ran an 8.89 last Friday night at Maryland International Raceway, marking the first time a Three-Valve-powered S197 Mustang has eclipsed the 8-second zone. Regular readers are most likely familiar to Burcham’s antics with Ford’s latest musclecar. He ran oh-so close to the 8s at our S197 Shootout last fall with a 9.05. A blower tube popped off on the run, preventing him from doing it at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park that day.
Perhaps one of the more amazing accomplishments with Burcham’s run is that he relied not on his Boss-based, 322ci engine (built by Rich Groh), but rather on Ford Racing’s new Aluminator short-block, as he has been working with Ford Racing on the development of that engine lately. Burcham used his Fox Lake-ported Three-Valve heads and custom grind camshafts. He also relied on a ProCharger F1R blower and a nasty shot of juice courtesy of a Nitrous Pro Flow fogger system to get the job done. Justin has also credited Brisk spark plugs as a big contribution to the record run. The engine would burn the tips of some other plugs every time he leaned on the nitrous real hard. He felt the elongated tip of the plug contributed to the burnt tips since the nitrous tune was very conservative. The Brisk plugs were resistant to the extra heat and worked flawlessly. The combination is nothing out of the ordinary, and is far less mystical than anyone would have thought for such a monumental accomplishment. I did a story on the Aluminator engine in the latest issue of MM&FF (June 2008). It is a crate engine offered by Ford Racing that carries some really nice features. The engine is based on the Terminator Cobra powerplant, but is centered around an aluminum block to save weight. Inside, there is a forged steel crankshaft, Manley rods, and forged pistons. Ford Racing sells it in three configurations—Four-Valve, Three-Valve, and Two-Valve. It is also available as a Four-Valve long-block with and without a Ford Racing supercharger.
For those who are afraid of the aluminum block for durability reasons, don’t be. It is a solid piece that has an enormous amount of webbing and support in all the right places. It is rumored to be the aluminum block from S197 Mustangs, but that is not confirmed. We do know that Ford Racing puts these engines through rigorous durability testing, thus adding testimony to its reliability. After all, Ford Racing won’t offer a part that will be suspect. It also survived Burcham’s torture test, so we know it will be good for the masses as he puts a mix of street and track miles on his mule. For those who don’t think Burcham has a legit street ride—I know firsthand that it is street worthy. There have been times when I stayed over night for a tech story and we took his ’05 Stang back to his house! The car is as legit as any serious MM&FF True Street entry, right down to the air conditioning.
I spoke with Burcham right after the legendary run, and the best part is that he is all ready thinking of a new twist for the car. He was rattling off different induction combos and swapping back and forth between his Boss 322 and Aluminator engine. He said he won’t stop until he has more information and pushes the boundaries even further. Burcham even hinted that he might be going for 200 mph in the standing mile, then head to a drag strip and run in the 8s—all with the A/C blowing cold and driving it on the street. Check out the YouTube video of his run. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mt1mXiVKvU

Brisk RS 01 WRC: BRISK Developed Skoda Fabia Coupe With A 500Hp 2.0TFSI Engine

Apparently this isn’t a typical road-going Skoda; it is a unique rally car created by Czech spark-plug manufacture Brisk in collaboration with Prodrive. Based on a first generation Fabia, the RS 01 WRC gets a coupe body that actually doesn’t look half-bad and a supped-up 2.0TFSI engine equipped with BRISK TURBO DOR10TS spark plugs, -yes, the same engine as in the VW Golf GTI and Audi S3 models among others, producing 500Hp @ 7.800 rpm and 600Nm @ 3.700 rpm. Combine that with a weight of just 1.000kg or 2.200 pounds 4 wheel drive 6-speed sequential transmition and get 2.7 sec time for the 0 to 100km/h (62mph) !!!

Horizon Motorsports Scion ready to roar wiht BRISK Silver Racing Plugs; new Sport FWD car on the way
3/27/2007
The start of the 2007 NHRA Xplōd Sport Compact drag racing season also marks the return of Horizon Motorsports’ front-running All-Motor Scion tC, new sponsors, and the reports that a brand-new Sport FWD car is on the way.
“The season-opener is always exciting, because every team is in first place going into the weekend,” said Horizon Motorsports’ Leslie Armendariz. “We intend to still be in first on Sunday night, too.”
Campaigning a factory-backed Scion tC in the All Motor class, Armendariz was the first driver to break into the nine-second zone in the naturally-aspirated pro category, and hasn’t slowed down since. This year, the team is looking to cross the next big hurdle and collect a 9.49 time slip, and, with a previous best of 9.50 at 141.26, that mark could fall as soon as this weekend.
“We’ve done a lot of work over the winter, and added a couple of great new sponsors to the family with ERL Performance, Inc., EMCO Gear and BRiSK USA Racing Plugs joining Scion, AEM, Calico Coatings, CP Pistons, The Drive Shaft Shop, Goodyear Racing, Royal Purple, SCE Gaskets, Steen Chassis, TWM Induction, Vance & Hines, and Web Cam,” Armendariz continued.
Switching to Brisk Silver Racing Plugs "free-up" over 3Hp in All motor Scion tC and allowed for more racical tune in the Turbo Scion. The All motor Scion tC is powered by Brisk Silver Racing D12S spark plug and the Turbo Scion tC is powered by Brisk Silver D08S spark plug.
The 2007 campaign marks the first full season of competition for the All-Motor Scion tC, which debuted mid-year in 2006 and immediately showed race-winning potential with Armendariz behind the wheel. This year also brings another new addition to the Horizon team in the form of a Sport FWD entry piloted by Jason Lopez.
“Jason has his work cut out for him this year,” Leslie admits. “Sport FWD is an incredibly competitive class. The rules are pretty restrictive – basically, you’re talking about a turbocharged, modified street car that’s almost as quick as our purpose-built, tube-frame All-Motor car. There’s a lot of very fast cars in the class, but I think we’ve got a little something for them.”

Ortiz to Start 2007 with New Look, New Program
|
January 23, 2006
Salem, AL--
Fresh off a stellar rookie season behind the wheel of a twin turbo PRO car, Erica Ortiz looks to keep the momentum rolling in 2007 with significant upgrades in her racing program. The 26 year-old made monumental progress in her first year running the Fun Ford Weekend Pro 5.0 class, finishing 2nd in the points chase with consistent 6 second, 200 mph performances.
For 2007, BRISK USA has stepped up to become a major sponsor of Horsepower & Heels racing, allowing the team to bring about some exciting improvements to the racing program. Starting with a drastic body change, the old steel roof & quarter '86 Thunderbird is nixed in favor of a sleeker 2007 Pro Mod fiberglass Mustang body by VFN Fiberglass out of Addison, IL. Parker Chassis will be handling the fabrication behind the transformation, along with the fabrication of a new turbo configuration.

The engine program will still remain at the hands of master Ford engine guru, Al Moody Sr. of Maybleton, GA. The stock block and cast crank 2006 engine combination, which shattered performance barriers as the fastest OEM 460 block configuration, will be set aside for a stronger & lighter aluminum block powerplant.
"The whole premise behind 2006 was to get my feet wet in the PRO ranks, and we did surprisingly well as a team with the parts and budget that we had available at the time. This year, thanks to the great relationship we were able to build with BRISK USA, we will be able to debut a new look, and a stronger engine program which we feel will make us a formidable competitor." Erica said of her 2007 plans.
Erica plans to campaign the car in the 5 race Fun Ford Weekend Pro 5.0 schedule, the ADRL Pro Nitrous category, as well as the NOPI Drag Racing league, where domestics have newly entered the mix of sport compacts traditionally associated with this venue. Her goal is to work up towards the NHRA Pro Modified events, where turbocharged combinations have recently been accepted into the fold.
NOTEWORTHY: Erica will campaign a 2007 VFN Mustang body with Brisk Spark Plugs as major sponsor

New Era for DragCoverage: Meet Erica Ortiz
Feb 28, 2007
Hello to all the DC Readers!
Following in line with Jory's introduction article, I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself to all the wonderful people on Drag Coverage.com. I have had the pleasure of calling TJ Pruitt a wonderful friend and am honored to take a part in this site. I am extremely excited to be on-board with one of the fastest growing and most down-to-earth sites in our sport... and can't wait to see his dream to fruition.
In sharp contrast to Jory, whom began his racing journey shortly out of the womb, I did not come from a racing background. Truth of the matter is, my parents could hardly change a tire. Still, I grew up a very competitive athlete, and always had a love for cars, though I knew nothing about them. My father teased me that my "lead foot" which became apparent shortly after my 16th birthday, would lead me to big things... like SPEEDING TICKETS. He never dreamed they'd lead me to a unending passion for all-out drag racing and 200 mph strolls down the quarter mile, a transformation that for me, began the day I graduated high school in 1998. My parents wondered all the time what happened to me.... but truth is, I live, breathe, eat and dream racing.
I used to race around town in a painfully slow Toyota pickup truck in high school. After graduation, I bought my first car: a 1990 5.0L Mustang GT. That summer I spent reading countless magazines and websites trying to learn more about the car I loved so much. I made my first trip to the drag strip that summer, and never being a great spectator, drove straight up to the staging lanes with no idea what I was doing. That first 15 second pass down the quarter mile was all I ever needed.... I was hooked for life! Being the competitor at heart, I went twice a week for test and tune, working on my launches and reaction times, and spent every other spare moment trying to learn the tricks to make the car faster. I started frequenting a local performance shop, attending races and eventually working at the shop full time. I was hungry for knowledge, and that hasn't changed nearly 10 years later.
My first real racing experience came in 2000, at the World Ford Challenge in St.Louis, MO. After driving the 1000 miles from my home in Orlando to St. Louis, where the annual event was held, I decided to try my hand at bracket racing, entering the Bracket 3 category. Over 150 competitors competed in class, and I made it all the way to the semi-finals on day 1, running in the mid-13's with my newly acquired 1993 manual transmission equipped GT. On Sunday, I again made in through rounds all the way to the finals, where I finished as runner-up at my first competitive event. My first actual competition and my first taste of winnings! I framed that first check and it only intensified my desire to become a hardcore racer.
From there it went to 10 second blown street cars, to obtaining my NHRA Sportsman 9.99 license in 2001, and an eventual move to an 8 second turbo drag radial car. I won the FFW Sunshine State True Street Championship in 2002, and runnered-up for several events in 2003 before finishing 2nd for the FFW Drag Radial 2003 championship. I built the 331 cubic inch engine program that was in my radial car that year, and was learning the tuning ropes of digital fuel injection. At the end of 2004, I put my beloved radial car up for sale to chase aspirations of running a PRO 5.0/ ProMod combination. And although I always miss my first racecar, I still get to enjoy seeing it tear down the track with current owner and DC regular, Josh Mackey behind the wheel.
The Horsepower & Heels team name was formed from the experiences that I had amassed over the years as a female driver. I often found myself trying so hard to be "one of the boys" to fit in and be accepted, that I noticed myself apologizing for being unique and different. Fellow racers were shocked to see me away from the track... while I would get down and dirty in the shop and at the racetrack, my regular daily activities saw me in skirts and cute heels. People would comment on how different that look was for me, how it looked "weird" to see me out of jeans and a racing t-shirt. That's when it dawned on me...Who says Horsepower & Heels don't mix?? I could be a girly girl in my daily life, and still be a tough competitor on the track. And from there, my dream was born.
2005 I spent building the Twin Turbo T-bird, which would mark its debut in February of 2006. My rookie season in FFW Pro 5.0 was a whirlwind of excitment for me, learning to navigate the new car down the track nearly a second and a half faster than I'd ever been. By mid-season, I was finally feeling comfortable and in July, I became the first woman in FFW history to enter the 6 second club and 200 mph clubs. I ended up finishing 2nd in points for the year this past season, attending only 6 of the events. I posted a best of 6.69 @ 207 mph, and that energized my desire to step up to a better combination.
Fast forward to now. Its been a very busy off-season, with the help of BRISK USA, I am hard at work preparing for the debut of my new Twin Turbo 2007 Mustang, complete with an upgraded engine combination. With a new car and new engine program in place, I'm really looking forward to the coming season and making my presence known in the Fun Ford Weekend circuit as well as some local promodified events. I feel blessed to be able to chase my dreams everyday, and even more blessed to have accomplished much that I've set out after.
My heart belongs to racing... in all forms and faucets of my life. I'm excited to be given the opportunity to offer up some humble opinions and insight from a different perspective than is normally seen in this sport. I love all of my racing family, and getting the chance to bond with the Drag Coverage family is a dream come true! Sharing my background and story with you, the readers, has me eager and looking forward to learning more about this community and how we can all come together on the best, down-to-earth site on the planet... Audi TT 225 Quattro - Tuning - Tech
Our Audi TT ALMS 225 Quattro Gets New Software And An Exhaust For A Little More Pep.
writer: Hubert Zimara
photographer: Hubert Zimara
In the 8/06 issue we introduced you to our '02 TT 225 quattro. It's one of the ALMS edition cars and we spent our first visit slamming it on H&R coilovers, before fitting the company's sway bars.
This month we've decided to up the power stakes with software and an exhaust, as well as a few overlooked items like plugs and a diverter valve.
GIAC softwareFirst on our list was a trip to Euro Sport Accessories - a renowned VW performance shop that installs GIAC software. GIAC is known for creating "factory smooth" programs with good power and reliability. In fact, we also have it on Project Dub - our '06 GLI - and it runs faultlessly.
During the upgrade, the TT's ECU was programmed to adjust ignition timing, fuel delivery, fuel metering, boost settings, rev limiter and the speed limiter to optimize performance and, in some case, economy.
We chose GIAC's Flashloader - a handheld device that enables the user to enter up to five enhancement programs (depending on the year/model of the vehicle). The first program is performance pump gas (91 or 93 octane), the second is your stock file, third is for race gas, fourth is a valet mode and fifth is a kill function so it can't be started without the Flashloader.
The minimum amount of programs you can choose is two, so you could just choose the performance pump gas program and stock. For those of you still under warranty, we recommend this option as it allows the car to return to stock for servicing.
With our decisions made, Euro Sport Accessories handled the task with ease. They started by reading the TT's ECU and VIN numbers. This was then emailed to GIAC and the appropriate X-plus key program was sent back. Once the information had been uploaded into the Flashloader, the data could then be transferred to the car. It took about 90 minutes to upload everything but then the car was ready for a test drive.
On the road, we immediately noticed the increase in torque throughout the rev range. The car seemed to pull noticeably harder from around 2000rpm all the way to 5800. The Audi now seemed to pounce when throttle was applied, yet the extra power was delivered smoothly and progressively.
Visit www.giacusa.com for your program options and contact details for your local GIAC dealer, or simply call Euro Sport Accessories to schedule your GIAC software upgrade at 800/252-0415.
